Joyland

Summer 1973. North Carolina. Devin Jones, a young college student, lands a job at a small amusement park called Joyland. There, he handles maintenance tasks, dresses up as the park mascot, and entertains children. He also uncovers the story of a brutal murder that took place in the Haunted House and was never solved.

But Devin isn't the only one fascinated by the park and its dark legend. Near his boarding house lives Mike, a sickly boy with whom he soon strikes up an unusual friendship. The kid has never visited Joyland and would love to go before he dies. So Devin plans a private visit for the end of the season.

The day unfolds amid roller coasters and ghost stories about what might have happened to the murdered young woman. However, unwanted visitors and intrusive questions can trigger unpredictable reactions. Without realizing it, Devin has stepped into a dangerous game from which he may never escape.
