Texas

Texas has built one of the most prominent book fair traditions in the country, anchored by the Texas Book Festival in Austin, a weekend-long event held each fall around the State Capitol that draws hundreds of authors and a large public crowd.

San Antonio and other Texas cities host their own festivals as well, reflecting the state's large and geographically spread reading population. Genre coverage tends to be broad, from literary fiction and nonfiction to strong children's and young readers' programming, and many events pair author panels with hands-on activities for families and school groups.
