British Columbia

British Columbia's publishing scene is centered on Vancouver, home to a number of respected independent presses known for literary fiction, poetry, and nonfiction with a strong West Coast identity. Several BC publishers have built national reputations for Indigenous writing and nature and environmental writing tied to the province's landscape.

Smaller presses on Vancouver Island and in the province's interior add further depth to the scene, often with a close connection to the province's universities and writing programs.
