Wales

Wales has built a small but distinctive publishing scene centered on Cardiff, supported by the Books Council of Wales, which funds and promotes both English-language and Welsh-language publishers across the country. A number of presses here work bilingually, producing titles in both English and Welsh side by side.

Welsh publishers often lean into a strong regional identity, favoring poetry, literary fiction, and nonfiction connected to Welsh history, landscape, and language. It's a smaller market than London's, but one with real editorial commitment to Welsh voices and stories.
