Florida's writing-workshop scene is spread across Miami, Orlando, Tampa, and a number of smaller literary communities up and down both coasts. Many workshops here draw a mix of retirees pursuing a long-held creative interest and younger writers building a more serious practice around their craft.

Given the state's geography, online and hybrid workshops are common, allowing writers from more remote parts of Florida to join a group without a long drive.

If you're new to workshops, look for a Florida group that explicitly welcomes beginners. Some are geared toward experienced writers preparing work for publication, which can be intimidating for a first-timer.
